Stewardship

The Stewardship & Trust Services Director’s role and responsibility is to devise and maintain a plan whereby members are encouraged to be faithful to the Lord in tithes and offerings as well as promoting the uptake of the Gift Aid programme. Further, it is also his responsibility to promote the conference wide development fund known as the ‘Church Building Fund’ and to assist churches in formulating plans for the acquisition and or development of church buildings. He is also responsible for providing members, through their local Stewardship directors, with materials on personal finance as well as conducting seminars on this same topic. Pastor DeLisser is also involved in the preparation of wills and monitoring their process.

Why did you decide to start working for the church?
Initially I didn't want to work for the Church, it was solely God that had wanted me too. I actually ran away from His call to ministry and nearly died. This brought me to my work for God and I am now doing what God has called me to do until the day I die!

What would you say are the challenges of your job?
The main challenge in this department is to raise the awareness and profile of stewardship in the conference, as it has had little or no real promotion for a considerable period of time.

What are the highlights of your time as director of this Department?
The highlight for me, in the Stewardship department, is to see what happens in the lives of people when they receive the tools to be better stewards of their earthly affairs and recognize that Stewardship is actually a way of life!
