Who We Are

The South England Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church (SEC) is one of the sub-units of the British Union Conference of Seventh-day Adventists (BUC). The BUC is part of the Trans-European Division of Seventh-day Adventists (TED). The SEC covers the area of Southern England and is made up of approx 140 congregations. The motto of the Conference is 'The whole Church taking the whole Gospel to the whole Community'.

The Seventh-day Adventist church in the South England Conference represents a total membership of approximately 17,000. The church is represented across the towns and villages of the conference whose northern boundary stretches in line from the Severn to the Wash. The Seventh-day Adventist church is represented in most of the larger towns, with a concentration of members in London.

Institutions
In addition to supervising the work of the various congregations, the Conference operates three primary schools in Plymouth, Bracknell and Walthamstow, as well as the voluntary-aided John Loughborough School for secondary aged children in Tottenham.

The Conference also owns the Advent Centre in Central London. The Advent Centre houses a sanctuary and a variety of seminar rooms, a banqueting hall and a large kitchen with catering facility.

Summer camps for youth, teens, families and lone parents are held at Chapel Porth camp site, near St Agnes, Cornwall.

Structure
The structure of the Seventh-day Adventist Church is centred around local congregations. Each congregation is part of one of the eleven regional areas in the territory of South England Conference. The Conference is then responsible for the work in these areas and provides training and resources to them.
